Wading boots
Good morning.
I am totaly new to fly fishing and must admit, wish I have done this way of fishing years ago. As I started at venues bank angling I,d like to hunt some yellow fish in rivers, but seeing pricing on wading boots and waders its quite a lay out of money. Could one get away with traditional hiking boots, or even those ***hi canvas dodgy looking security/army boots?
Any feedback would be awesome

You can start off with plain hiking boots etc.
But adding felt will give you 5000% percent more grip and enjoyment.
Check the thread about DIY boots, good cheap starter alternative.
without the flet soles you will probably fall 40 times a day as you slip, knock your head, knees, elbows, shins etc.
With felt it will probably once or 2 a day on a bad day

Most important is it must come up high enough to protect the ankle bones.If they knock a rock its beyond painful.
Also,use a nice wading stick that is nearly shoulder high long.It will help you get used to wading.The longer one just gives bit more height when placing it a bit infront of you and gives you a beter balance.

PS: Do not use contact glue in very cold weather.
Condensation forms on the surface as the glue dries, that influence the strengtht of the glue, sometimes it will have no adhesion or "glueing power" especially in areas with high humidity.

ive come across these wading boots and want to know if anyone has any experience with them. as budget restraints grow i need to look at more inexpensive options. Im aware of the age old adage of you get what you pay for so cheaper isnt always best.

When you start off you do not have to have the most expensive top of the range stuff.
A lot of the items that are cheaper gives you far more value for money.

I think those are good boots.
you can rub some Sole Saver on the stitching.
The round free stones in our rivers have a nasty habit of chafing the stitching on the side of the boots.
Will add a season or 2 to the boots
