Vaal Pollution

Hi Guys,

Its been a while since I have fished the Vaal. 4-3 years ago I would fish it monthly sometime twice a month. Vaal de Sioleh up to Yellow Fish Paradise was my usual stretch.

After the past year with the pollution scare, I was and am a little hesitant to go and wade for some yellow again. However, I am afraid that the lack thereof might be even worse for my health!

Does anyone still go and wade there or is it ill-adviced? If not can anyone recommend a venue that's +- 1 hour away from JHB with similar fishing opportunity?

Johan - it seems OK up there but if you go further down it gets better. I would say Elgro, Raaswater or Oord Nebo is a better bet if you can stomach the far drive.

But Vaal de Sioleh certainly is fishable at the moment.
