No, i'm refering to my yellowfish line here. Obvously I dont fish for yellows as often as you guys, but I have not had the problem of it cutting in. I am sure that with continued abuse, it has to at some stage, but if you take some preventative measures, it wont be soon.
Sharkskin line, I cannot comment, as it is still too new.

Ok, It's quite simple, you attach the loop to loop's and then pull the leader end through the loop on the fly line once again. It kind of spreads the load.
Look , I dont think there is any way really to guarantee that the fused loop on the flyline is not going to suffer at least some damage over time, but all I am saying is that there surely must be ways of protecting the longevity of the loop. I still think it is best to remove the leader at the end of the days fishing.
That's the same not I use. The braided loops you can buy at shops don't work for me. They come off, probably because my tackle dealer attached it slightly wrong. I've found it better to double the tip of the flyline and using backing to fasten the standing part and the tag end to each other with neat but tight turns. I was introduced to the technique in Lefty Kreh's book Flyfishing in Salt Water. He says it is his prefered knot.
Now I know it makes sense that this loop should hang up in the guides, but with the cat's paw surgeon's loop, it gets pulled closed and hangs up only slightly in my small tip top guide. Never lost a fish due to this though.
Thanks to all of the contributors in this thread both for educational value and commic relief.
I have been thinking of a new line since visiting Frontier on Saterday and had a long chat to Brett about the sharkskin line.Unfortunately it is not yet available in Dbltaper that i can find out (please correct me if i am wrong).
I think the best thing for me todo is just turn the dbltaper i have around and give it a few more years. I am sure that by this time the line will have been truely tested buy some of our esteamed ladies (just kidding) over a long period of time and they can enlighten us as to the longevity of the line.
The best day to go fishing is any day that ends in a "y"
