    Default leeries at zandvlei

    hello all

I'm very interested in catching some leeries at zandvlei, but don't really know where to start.

If someone could please give me some advice and maybe let me know whether the leeries are still there. has anybody caught some recently.

i do release every fish and only want to catch them for the fun of it.

    thanks

A good start would be to get your line in the water
    Good luck!

was at the vlei this morning. wind was a bit rough so i took my dropshot outfit. didn't get anything.

spoke to another guy that told me that he had lost one this morning. He said that they are very scarce due to the freshness of the water.

a lot of mullet around, but didn't see any leeries.

    anyone else tried lately?

    Come on

    Why keep it a secret.

It's not like I'm looking to eat a garrick from Zandvlei. In it for the sport.

    Hi Gerhard,

The guys there are a bit weary to give out too much info about the hows and hows not for the leeries. It seems that their spot was bombarded with anglers with not the same conservation ethics as what we'd expect of most of our angler friends. As Dewald mentioned I guess the best would be to get out there and fish hard but stealthy.

    Good Luck

Went on Monday morning. what a morning. wind was quiet and there was a light rain. leeries were surfacing everywhere catching mullet. got three takes. hooked one of them very well, but lost it after a five minute fight. line broke(don't know why). very exciting. will definitely go again.

I suggest you take your deck chair with you next time, you may as well sit back, relax and watch the rush
