Watse materiale gebruik jy vir daai vlieg Colin?
Ek like hom, hy lyk goed. Baie "triggers" vir vis.

Hey my maat, daai vice werk lekker. That thing's got lots of sentimental value!!!
SB Emerger:
Hook: Grip Emerger #12 to #14
Abdomen: Hareline light olive Holo dubbing
Legs: (four vibers pointing backwards): Hareline wood duck fibre's
Wing: Hareline white poly yarn (same used for posts on Klinkies) and one white CDC plume tied in under the poly yarn wing.
Head: Hareline dark brown hares ear dubbing
Antenne: two Pheasant tail fibres (the front part of the feather)
Thats it. leave it in some floatant and let it dry.
Nice fly that ... you should do a tying sequence and post it, it's rather original. I must say I'm quite surprised, thought you were going to be a moegoe like Gerrit. Oh well you know what they say about guilt by association and all
Just kidding.
ps : Run a spell checker before you do post your tying sequence though (No really, I'm not kidding)
Mike, stop raping my taal ! We can hear your soutie accent even in the way that you type

I've been experimenting with a very similar pattern lately except I used long strands of caelibatis (sp?) ice dubbing instead of the polyyarn. Didnt work so lekker as the dubbing "collapsed" when wet - think the polyyarn wil be way better. I also tried using two duiker quills instead of the PT fibres and they worked really nicely in allowing the fly to break the film but still stay close to the surface.
I agree with Byron that you should ditch the grips!
Check your knots!
Guys, please tell me whats wrong with a Grip?
Some guys have said they break, but I've never experienced that! Infact, I've had no issues with any grip hook I have used, ever.

The solution to any problem -- work, love, money, whatever -- is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
You will, one day when you start catching big fish
I don't have major problems with Grip, though it has to be said they sometimes have tempering problems whereby the metal becomes brittle and (for example) breaks when you debarb the fly.
I've also had Grips that have snapped on the shank of the hook right ahead of the bend, especially when using the non 2XH hooks such as when tying a Vaal Caddis Adult for SmallMouth.
Clear indication that it's badly tempered.
I still use them though.

Use heavier tippet - you'll break it then.
everyone is a "guru" these days - re
Ja boet, I've experimented and studied those insects a bit before tying that imitation. I've got a few others but will keep them a mystery till I've caught fish on them. I feel it's stupid to post something you have'nt caught fish on!
I noticed the dead (still born) caddis pupas float with their @ss ends (abdomen) just beneath the surface.
So the aim here was to ty a very natural lookin dry that sits just beneath the surface.
and the Owen's SB Emerger was born!
I'll do the sequence once I get a lekker digital. That pic was taken with my cell.
PS. DAAR IS FOKKOL FOUT MET GRIPS!!!!
