Any fish of 10Kgs is going to put up a moerse fight on fly tackle ...

But yes, speak to the guys that have caught them, they say it's a case of www.revjouinjoumoerin.co.za

    CJ,
I rate that is an awesome looking fly(work of art) and I rate a lot of the folks on here are just plain jealous. I would say the antenna on the SB is none debatable why get rid of an extra trigger when I it enables the fly to resemble more than one specific instance in a caddis life cycle.

CJ, speak to TJB when he gets back, he targets them at the Vaal dam and has caught some niced sized ones.
These are flies TJB uses to target them:

I'm very weary of stories containing phrases like "It took me X hours to land that fish" especially where freshwater fishing in ZA is concerned.

Let's face it, most fishermen fib their tits off. If that guy in the Florida keys can land +200lb Tarpon in under 30 minutes ... dot dot dot ... you do the math. I can also very well see someone letting a 500grm SmallMouth swim around for an hour with the fly in it's mouth ... dot dot dot ... similarly if you fight a barbel on a 3WT obviously it's going to take time.

AFAICR, TJB had his 18 odd KG barbel beaten on the 4WT in roughly an hour or less, so I take all those "X hours fight" stories with a fair helping of salt.

I once got a small 2KG Grass Carp on a MoFo DDD in a trout dam. Was a good solid fight, but Carp generally fight well with possibly the exception of the mirror carp. The guys that I know have targetted them swear by the grass fly ... basically a fritz bugger in the right colours and even then it's not always a sure thing. The rest of the times you hear people catching them it's usually by accident.
