    Default Douglas ITEM LISTS

As per Nicholas, not a bad idea to make a thread open solely for the stuff we need to take with, so guys can compare notes.

Here is a partial list of mine, that I usually make up for Sterkfontein Dam, for a long weekend trip. I have taken out the other stuff obviously that I always need for the boat.

    - Cork Screw
    - Can opener
    - Tabard, Peaceful Sleep
    - Recovery gear (Straps, shovels, tow-ropes)
    - List of emergency numbers (for the area)
    - Sanitary wipes (For those that are not first in line)
    - Tool boxes, one in car
    - Lifejackets, paddles, ropes, anchor, funnel, flares, etc (Extreme, not neccessary for Douglas)
    - Fire Extinguisher
    - First Aid Kit - including headache tablets, anti-histamine tablets, plasters, bandages, disinfectant, the works.
    - Wading Boots 1
    - Fishing Clothes 2 (Long pants, shirts)
    - Socks / Neoprene socks 2 (Also gravel guards)
    - Rain Coat 1
    - Clothes 3 (Shorts, t-shirts, undies, tracksuit pants, warm jacket, leather belt, plakkies)
    - Sunscreen 1
    - Smokes 1 (Carton.)
    - Lighter / Matches 1
    - Towel 1
    - Toiletries all (Soap, tootbrush/paste, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, contact lenses etc)
    - Cameras all (Digital camera, video camera, chargers, batteries, waterproof boxes)
    - Walkie Talkies 2 (Plus spare batteries, and chargers)
    - Insect repellents 2 (Tabard, etc)
    - Kitchen goodies all (Steak knife, braai tongs, foil, spices, zip-lock bags, marinade, dishcloth)
    - Fly Tying Kit 1
    - Food all (Rolls, butter, salads, chips, chocs, biltong, cookies, cereal, fruit, salad, swe etcorn)
    - Drink all (Cokes, milk, water, sprite, etc)
    - Other foods all (Coffee, sugar, ice, tomato sause, salt)
    - Fishing equipment all (Rods, reels, lines, leaders, fly boxes, backpack, floatant, net, tippet, etc)

    RODS:
5 weight x 2 (or 6 weight) (one as a back-up, in case of breakage) for Smallmouth Yellows, etc
7 weight x 2 (or 8 weight, even 9 weight if you cannot get 7 or 8 weight) for Largemouth Yellows, etc

    REELS:
5/6 weight x 2 (Only loaded with floating line, all that is needed) (spare as a backup of course)
7/8 weight x 2 (Preferably one loaded with floating line, and one with intermediate line)
...or reels to match your rod (if perhaps a 9 weight rod)

Leaders, 9 foot tapered down to 0X. (Like 12lbs or more) - for both species, for Largemouth, maybe even tapered down to 16 lbs.
    Tippets (6X, 5X, 4X, 3X, 2X, 1X, 0X)

Flies has been discussed already elsewhere on the forum.

    - Meat all (Cheesegrillers, steaks, ribs.)
    - Cleaning items all (Black bags, sunlight liquid, dishrag.)
    - Torch all (Candles, Batteries. )
    - Charcoal & Firelighters 2
    - Cell phone charger 1 (Adaptors)
    - Money 1 (Wallet, etc)
    - Spotlight & Adaptor 1 (For battery on boat.)
    - Captain Morgan 1 (NB!!!!!!!!!!!!)
    - Wire Brush for braai 1
    - Gravel Gaurds pair
    - Hat and Cap
    - Sunglasses 2 pairs
    - Ziplocks
    - Toilet Paper (Few Rolls) NB!!!!

We should just add what we need, and obviously leave out the "FOOD" bit, if we are going to get food there, as Nicholas suggested.

Any thoughts and idea, post them!

Your list is pretty good, but I cant understand your ordering...

Firstly you have not told theys to pack their rods and reels..., cant see it...
Then the flytying kit is way down the list and the bogg roll is like last...
the first thing is the tool box... I understand you drive beaten up scorocoro... but...

    - Fishing equipment all (Rods, reels, lines, leaders, fly boxes, rucksack, floatant, net, etc)

    It's there...read again....

And just because an item is listed last, does not mean it's the least important (the whole saying...."Last but not least" you know!)

    WTF...are you bored Mike????
