    Default High Flows on Vaal

The barrage is currently running at 145 cms and averaged 125 cms yesterday.

Unfortunatly the weather forecast for the next week shows we may get some more rain, so please check the flows before goign down to the Vaal

The link that i have to check out the vaal flows is not the best, and often out of date. Does anyone have a phone no. that one could call, say the day before to enquire about anticipated flows and spikes for the next day.

    Hi there guys

Have you got any idea / guess when the flows will return to somewhere around seventy or below? We fished the river when it was flowing at seventy cms last year. Good fun at Wag-'n-Bietjie.

I will be up there on 2nd and 3rd December. How long does it normally take after the rain stops before they stop letting water out at the barrage?

    Thanks
    MC

MC, if I remember correctly you need to be here from the 1-3 Dec.

How long, too many variables to guess like levels on the vaal dam, can't honestly say.

Last weekend they opened the barrage on the Saturday for a rafting race, the high waters reached Wag 'n Bietjie on Wednesday morning. So, if they close the barrage to normal levels (excluding inflow from other streams), 4 days for level to drop at W n B, but clarity would be a problem then

    Gael

Thanks for the response. The JHB guys said that it is ok if we only arrive on the Friday evening or Saturday morning. It would be nice to get some fishing done, so I hope the levels drop by then.

    Cheers

That would mean that there is absolutely no reason not to fish this weekend!
