    Default Witvis

Thanks Chris.I appreciate your help. One last thing i wanna know is,will it be possible to fish for the Witvis in Quaggaskloofdam itself from the bank or do u think the fish are out too deep??In our league compo's we sometimes catch them on about 15 meters wich isnt too far to cast.

I was fishing the Breede river at Bontebok park, Swellendam, on Saturday. I had a fish on and after a short fight I was quite surprized to see this beautiful little whitefish on the end of my line. I didn't think they were still present in that lower section of the Breede. Great to see they're still there.

    Great fish, well done.

I am pretty sure there aren't any smallmouth yellows in the breede. Does anyone know otherwise?
An honest fisherman is a pretty uninteresting person.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and not only is he hungry but broke for the rest of his life as well.

I have never seen a picture of a Witvis, but however have caught countless juvenile SM yellows. We call them "silvers" up here due to their colour.

I have to agree with Korrie, that fish looks very much like a silver to me.

If that's true, then the Breede is a river that has to be cherished, nurtured and guarded carefully.

The amount of specie in that system is putting it on my "bucket list ".
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.
