I am really hoping this works as I have had trouble uploading images. This is a photo of Barbus andrewi or Witvis. To me this looks very much like the fish caught. By pretty sure I mean 99% sure. Maybe someone has a photo of Labeobarbus aeneus from the Breede?
An honest fisherman is a pretty uninteresting person.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and not only is he hungry but broke for the rest of his life as well.

This is Labeobarbus aeneus. Looks pretty much the same to me although the eye looks a bit bigger and the mouth looks very slightly bigger.

Paul Skelton Freshwater Fishes of Southern Africa:
Labeobarbus aeneus distribution:"Natural range Orange - Vaal system; also translocated to larger Cape coastal rivers including the Gourits, Great Fish and Kei, as well as the Limpopo and the Mutirikwe Dam in Zimbabwe."

Barbus andrewi distribution: "Berg and Bree systems, south - west Cape"

    Hope this clears it up
