Sally Hansens 'Hard as nails' or any other clear nail varnish works fine for me. If I run out I just use stock standard head cement.

Sally Hansen's dries brittle, so in my opinion is no good for what you're wanting to do. For your intended usage, I don't think there is anything out there that works as well as Flexement. Besides which, Sally Hansen's isn't much cheaper either.

Yep I agree Flexament is excellent a sobviously by definition it dries 'flexible'. Just make sure you don't leave the bottle (of Flexament...) in the sun - or S Hansens for that matter...

Bit out of left field... but I used to have stuff called jet dope and it was used on paper wing model aircraft. It would harden the paper shell to make the wing and body of wooden model planes - I don't see why this wouldn't work on feathers. i think it needed to be slightly warmed in an oven to bake it, it dried to be hard but pliable.

I can't remember if it was cheap or not. If it still exists (if people still build those planes) you would be able to get it at a hobby shop or specialist toy shop.

Ive never had a problem with brittleness.... although ive never tried fleximent to compair. Works for me though
