Ja too bad that fish is no longer swimming around

Sleepover the night before is silly, sleepover AFTER the fishing is a good idea, then you can fish right up to dark and don't have to worry about dragging your tired ass all the way back home.

My day this past Sunday :

    Up at 5 AM
    245Kms to Elgro
on the truck to the bridge
row 12kms ... the last 4 of which after dark
pull boat out at the lodge by 19:30
to Potch for coffee and milkshake
    245kms back to PTA
    At home just before 22:00

    Dead man walking.

ps : Elgro has new Arks, AFAIK there are now a limited number, so if you're planning on tossing around, don't waste another guy's space just to pull out when it comes to crunch time.

    I am hereby confirmed !

I actually believe the guy's story...seems like a decent oke when you read his letter. He says they wanted to, but the fish has swallowed the bait and with the fight has stuffed his insides up badly. So not released, would have died anyway.

Nope, sorry can't make those dates guys 28th is pre planning for my Transkei trip (including pouring some 10oz grapnels, finally sourced a mould ) and I've got one hell of a pissup going down on the 5th , which effectively rules out the 6th!

Maybe we should buddy up to book boats 2 per boat. Make sense or are they one man affairs. Not keen for 12 kms in a float tube

If so, we have to all be there a certain time, for transport up to the bridge by the Elgro staff. I'd like to hire an Ark with a transom, will bring my trolling motor with...paddling 12km sucks.

I have some awesome largemouth patterns that decended from the largemouth g0ds that I want to try out...

PS: Anyone else see that 17kg (ok maybe a bit less, but still a monster) largie that a bait-fisherman caught last year, in the latest Stywe Lyne? Was the Villiers area...
