Hello,

I met a couple of guys last weekend that mentioned that they are part of the Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club. I didn't even know that there is one in Pta.

Does anybody know anything about them or is anybody current members.

I used to be a member when it was one dimensional and structured around certain individuals hence my departure.

It seems as though they cleaned up their act with many creative and snazzy ideas in keeping the members interested.

The guy explained that they have all kinds off new initiatives in terms of accomodation deals with venues through out as well as with suppliers. They apparently meet two times a month for Fly Tying evenings. I have got their details thanks. Will bring some feedback.

To All Fly Flyfishers

Our club is under a new management with exciting events for the next 6 months...indoors and outdoors.

We are also seeking past members to return to the club so that we can collectively revitalise the club's activities and fly fishing in the Jacarand City and surrounds.

We meet every first Tuesday of the month at the Golf Driving Range Club, next to Sutherland High School in Eldoraigne. Our first 'kick off' meeting of the club will be 7 Feb 12 at 19:00

We are also exhibiting at the Fly Fishing Expo..so see you there.

Come and join our club or just pay us a visit..let's together have fun fishing and once again make our city proud of the Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club.

The Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club in Pretoria is undertaking a period of rejuvenation in an attempt to increase membership and breathe new life into a long established and successful organisation.

A new committee has been formed and a marketing strategy developed to accomplish this and to instil added value for our members. This will entail an exciting programme of activities which has been planned for our monthly meetings and a series of outings to fly fishing venues where we can practice our skills or merely enjoy a day out fishing. Remember ‘a day on the water is never a wasted day’.

Our revamped concept of what Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club is all about includes:

Vision
To make Jacaranda FFC the premier fly fishing club in Gauteng

Mission
To promote the art of fly fishing in Gauteng

Purpose
To provide an environment whereby members can enhance, develop and practice fly fishing skills to improve success rates and promote environmental awareness

We would like to encourage all current and past members to renew their interest in what is set to become an interesting, rewarding and learning experience for us all in our chosen passion. In endeavouring to accomplish our mandate we ask all members (current and past) to renew their membership at a nominal fee (discounted rates will apply for scholars and families). Members will be issued with a membership card renewable every year and will be entitled to special reductions at selected fly fishing venues that are currently under negotiation plus discounts at various fly fishing shops.

The old membership cards are no longer valid. The new programme will be launched on the 7th February, 2012

Hi Fellow Fly Fishers

Great to see new and old faces joining the club.

In real terms the club potentially grew by an additional 10 new members and a probable 4 'old' members returning. If stats are to be taken serious then may I thank the committee for a job well done. What needs to be ensured and maintained going forward is to increase numbers realistically and prove our growth strategy is on track?

The evening kicked off with a presentation on past, current and future activities including a brief outline on the growth strategy for 2012 and beyond. A new club logo was introduced including branded clothing for members.

The evening was further entertained by probably one of the most experienced and enthusiastic fly tyers of the decade, Daniel Factor. He showed members how to tie the '3 Flies for the Vaal - including the control fly'. A most rewarding presentation indeed.

A raffle for a fee of only R100 is in progress with a fantastic prize of a 3 night stay at Verlorenkloof over the period 4 to 6 May 12 in a 5 bedroom self catering croft sleeping 10 people. Any one seeking tickets can contact me via the listed email

Our next event on the vaal is on 18 Feb 12 at Arends Nes where members will be shown how to fish flies on the Vaal.

Isn't it time the guys from Gauteng North work together in order to accomplish something?

The Gauteng North Youth is organising an Open Day on 18 Feb at Eeendekuil, the same day Jacaranda is doing their thing at Arends.

I really think somehow, someone is missing a great opportunity.

Your point is duly noted as a feasible option going forward and we would welcome any cooperation agreement for the added value and best interest of our members.

Even though we share a common passion for fly fishing the clubs mission and purpose statement could be different?

At least give our club a chance to revitalize itself morally, financially and from a stability point of view in achieving its growth strategy set for 2012 and beyond. Hereafter or in the mean time we can view options of working together in the future.

Looking forward to Gauteng North and any other club in vacinity being part of our growth strategy.
