Nic I stayed there till just after six and did'nt get anything.

I fished Blue Gum grove today for about three hours and managed 4 fish. All was caught on Darryl's hi-vis midge. Had a couple of missed strikes as well. Realy nice venue and the water is crystal clear.

Enjoyed half the day (unfortunately decided to watch the Bokke game) at Eikendal. Decided to start with the white death since Nick had so much success on it. Hooked one on like the fifth cast, but lost it. From 9:30 to 10:00 there was a mayfly hatch, white and about #18. Tried some other flies but later got another one on the white death in the corner at the gate. It was calm and when I reached for the net it suddenly got life and steam trained to the other corner. Couldn't give enough slack in time and it broke me off. Thereafter they ignored the white death and I switched to a GRHE. Got a LOT of interrest in this one. All the fish would come closer for a look, swim past, turn around for another look but leave it at the last moment. Soon I hooked one but lost it as well. Tried a bit longer but got hungry (didn't eat breakfast) and called it the day. By this time the fish were rising again and Philip mentioned that they are probably after the dragonfly eggs. I noticed them flying double decker.
All in all a pleasent day but I really need to work on my fish fighting skills.

    Cheers

I haven't fished there for a while Nick, but the reports I have been getting indicates that it has been tough. Some - like me - like it that way others don't. Anyway be prepared for a challenge.
See you tomorrow night, looks like its going to be full up.

Nic I was there on Sunday.Tried every fly I had on the top dam with only one bump. While I was walking back to the car I went past the bottom dam and though I will make a quick cast. Ended with two fish in four casts and then lost my fly to the vineyard in a sloppy back cast on the fifth cast. Was already late at this point so rather left than putting on another fly. Caught the two fish on a Olive pine squirrel leechy type of home made concoction

There were plenty of damsels in the bottom dam and Phillip showed me some pics he took of them. Phillip also has some great looking damsels that he tied. Ask him to bum you a few. Boobies fished deep also worked a treat a while back.

    Hi Nic,

In general the fishing has been good, the dams are well stocked. What has been quite obvious is the fishing slowed down during the past two full moons.

    Cheers,

    Philip

These guys always have an excuse...

Perhaps you need to try something with wolf whiskers or the like..

I think the weather on Sunday was to good. Fished another dam in the area and strugled a lot - picked up two late in the morning in one corner, more by luck than skill. I think the weather will just be k@k enough tomorow for you to have a good day of fishing. Remember to take along a supply of "Ou Bruin Sappies" and fish a Olive Woolly Bugger on an intermediate line - twitch and wait at least 5 counts before you twitch again etc...
