good stuff Frederick. in the 3rd pic, the 3rd fly could use a bigger thorax like you said, but they will all catch fish.

i have been using these types of flies with great success with different coloured glass beads on the vaal and lesotho.

Inspired by some of the latest saltwater flies around like the Avalon where you have a mono loop with a few beads on that make the hook sit with the point facing up, I decided to try the technique out on a Largie fly.

The theory is that the beads will give the fly a bit of extra movement, some vibration and I'm sure the beads knocking together will give off a little sound as the fly is retrieved.

I am looking to do a Goto Fly variation using this technique next...

Anyway let me know your thoughts.

Interesting fly Bryan, the profile looks great almost like a msp, i also like the idea of the hook riding up. There is a lot written by very experience LM fisherman who suggest that they had better strike rates with the hook up and less snags. Ill be interested to see the comments from some of the more seasoned campaigners, I think this fly would also look great with an olive zonker(the one that also has the black stripes) with a pearl chenille, golden olive body. Nice tie!

looks good Williaby, i like it! I know that the bass guys have good results when "bumping" there hardware against a rocky bottom ... who knows same technique could work for largies - this would be just the fly to test the theory

really like it Bryan...should be a killer bass pattern in the usual colour variations...

also a good tiger fly, albeit that the beads probably wont last long on the mono...but that added vibration could be a good trigger - even with orange beads?

    love it

Those were taken with my phone. I will take some decent pictures and uplaod them. They are also part of my Bonanza flies.

    Default WIngs

    Hey Guys

I grabbed some CDC Puffs to try out - They are awesome and make great wings.

Here are some of the latest from the Vice.

Mostly CDC flies, with a bit of Co de Leon for tail.

I've always found spinner style wings to be a bit of a pain. Anyone else got any easy solutions for good wings?

Oh yeah, and I tried those new Partridge nymph Czech nymph hooks - They are awesome.

    Cheers mense!
