    Default Yellowfish Species in Iraq?

Check this out...it's apparently called a "mangar" (Luciobarbus Esocinus). I reckon it's a closer relative to our largemouth yellows, than to the fabled Mahseer of India.

These guys were part of the US troops that went to Iraq, and being fly fishermen, took their rods with. Caught a bunch of species, but this fish in particular caught my attention. It's a yellowfish species all-right...and in Iraq!?!

So when are the local shops going to start offering guided trips to Baghdad...?

Mike, thanks for posting this. I read the report. Its always interesting to see what species occur in other countries.
Not quite yellowfish, but Asia is the central point of Cyprinid diversity (those we're all Cyprinids (carp family) except the catfish). I find it amazing how this family of toothless fishes has radiated to fill almost every niche in areas like that... even those predatory fishes that acted a bit like bass!
    Cheers...

There is no rivers in Iraq.
    There are rivers in Iraq.

Tigres and Euphrates are probably the most well know.

And the Tigres and Euphrates are referred to in the Bible. In fact, the Garden of Eden was between the Tigres and Euphrates. Now I wonder if Adam was a ff. No reference to this anywhere in the bible.
