Barrage reports an outflow of 40m3.s-1.

Ben Joh is fishable in 40 cubes, yes.

Most of the Vaal Venues are fishable at 40 cubes. Just wade slowly making sure the one foot is properly anchored before raising the other.
Unless your name is Nymph+O who literally dances across where we take 1/2an hour to cross,

    Hi Herman

Do you know about it ?
    Does anbody know ?
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Andrew, at this time of the year it would be impossible to say what the flows would be on the 16th. The 80 cumecs release for the Vaal Canoe Marathon clears a lot of the Rock Snot but at the same time picks up all the detrious from the bottom. This coupled with the rains means visibility decreases to about 20cm.
For the rapids men this is a blessing, for the LM and dry fly enthusiasts it is a curse. Low flows and clear visibility are such a plus for these disciplines.
One thing the Vaal will teach you ( if you fish it often enough ) and that is how to adapt to the conditions that you find on the water on the day.
Eendekuil is fishable at 80 cubes, but only if you know the topography of the underwater structure.

    C'mon Summer.

Thanks very much for that Jeremy. Sunday below the Barrage will be difficult unless you wish to practise your 200m drag free drifts.
At least I know where I'm going on Sunday. Same place I was at Saturday last.

    Talking

Pleasure Herman. I hear stringing a piece of bloudraad across the river, just below the waterline at strategic points can cause havoc with canoeists
