    Excelent post Red.

    I noticed the same thing while trying to photograph some bugs at Nkolo bells. I did manage to get one nice pic and you can see the "tail". It made me think of adding tails to my fly's.

    If you think that larvae is big you should see the size of the rock it was under...

    I have started to tie tails on my caddis larvae imitations and either use 4-5 short strands of mylar flash or leave a "tag" of rib and split it like scythe mentioned. I am not convinced this is quite necessary but if it adds one more trigger then so be it...
