    Jean'slooks like a brown snake eagle and Kevin's looks like an immature black chested snake eagle time but it's easy to mix them up.

    Concur 100% Sire.
    Nice -

    @Jean - very nice shot mate.
    They certainly are a beautiful bird.

    Driving back to Letaba one afternoon, I came across a pair of Martial Eagles trying to catch vervet monkeys.
    Unfortunately my photography skills let me down and I managed a blurred branch and the fleeting tail in the last corner of my frame.

    They certainly are big birds.

    @Winelands
    One in 50 shots - you're doing well mate.

    Earlier this year while over, I got chatting to a pro photographer at a waterhole. One of the topics that came up was exactly this .....how many shots are keepers on average?
    He was saying a pro might get 1 in a 100 - you're definitely doing something right mate - keep that faith!

    Just out of interest have you ever used back button function?
    This was a revelation to me to be honest - very strange initially to get used to but if you work at it.....well.......same as anything really. It has helped me quite a bit shooting in Al Servo.

    Drop me a mail mate if you want me to send you a tutorial - [extends to anyone else too if interested]

    Great thread this - and really cool to see the interest of blokes in feathered birds.
    I'll dig around and get some others up.

    Amazing! Saw one for the first time in SA on the Kromme river in December hitting a big mullet. Spectacular to see how the bird lines the fish up in flight.
