Yes, there are 11 guys going, and you are one of them. If you were not included, you would have been told. Check your e-mails, I sent the llist of all 11 names to everyone, with directions how to get there. Did you get it?

Default Attitudes of existing "Honorary Rangers" active in Du Toits Kloof

I've recently had a chat with an "Honorary Ranger". He was one of the delegates at the recent CNC get together. Following our chat I was left a little dismayed with the lack of understanding of the current issues surrounding fishing in Du Toit's Kloof. It was as if we never attended the same CNC meeting and had any interaction with each other. CPS members/ fly fishermen seem to be regarded as spoilt stupid children whose opinions do not matter. In his opinion, we can only be used in a "volunteer" role and not as "river rangers". To add insult to injury, he actually told me to remove the trout that we catch. This clearly demonstrates that he is unaware of the issues involved. I am starting to wonder how deep seated this attitude is amongst other CNC officials.

But your reasoning has a fatal flaw; it overlooks the fact that to comprehend it requires that one rub a few brain cells against each other. The heat thus generated produces the light that illuminates the fact, but alas, not everybody has the resource required to fuel the process --SG

It was a delegate who happened to be an Honorary ranger. Unfortunately, I picked up the same attitude from other delegates.

I must admit, I got the same impression on the last day of the meeting after Andre raised the point of the cards and then everyone jumped in with their 2c worth. They definitely have the impression that we are only there for the fishing. No one listened to what we were trying to say about being in the area every single weekend and thereby can help CNC. I bet nothing further will come of the next "course" to become a ranger unless one of us initiates it.
Behold the fisherman. he riseth early in the morning and disturbeth the whole household. mighty are his preperations. he goes forth full of hope and when the day is ended, he returneth smelling of strong drink and the truth is not with him. originator unknown.

No, that's a whole new box of mountain cabbage. Major culture shock for some. Maybe people felt threatened by the number of CPS delegates.
