You will be wasting your time fly fishing in Chelmsford Dam as the water is always muddy and the only fish in the dam is carp, barbel and scalies. It really is only a papgooi dam. I have heard of bass being caught, but its not a known bass venue.

When in Newcastle I go fishing at Balele Mountain Trout Retreat near Utrecht which is a 45min drive. There you will catch some awesome trout.
