    Nice fish fellas!!!

You can't be mad at folks with location X's. they don't come easy. You must have some balls to find these spots, that or some luck. If you have neither, better luck next time i suppose.

I know we joke and its all in good fun, but really, If you want your own location X or whatever they are called here, knock on a few doors and have something to offer. A 6 pack is a pretty universal barter tool, as is a fish dinner. Farmers are generally nice and simple folk. one of these days, somebody will let you fish their spot and then you can post your own location X photos!

We were uncertain of all the species that are in that river, do you know all 6?

There were a few fish we caught that we were not sure about. . .

On the last trip down there a few weeks back we counted carp, bass, yellows, moggel (i think), springers, harders, shad, leervis, and I seem to recall some more but cant remember what it was. Seen pictures of 3kg springers that was caught (not on fly) and currently waiting for my farmer mate to call me when the big boys get active. Should be in the next month or so. Anyone wants to join me? Should be hell of a lot of fun trying to catch these big springers on fly.

Also have my camping spot on a private stretch booked for December. 10 days of private fishing on the Gouritz with no-one in site for miles. Cant wait.
    THE AFRICAN FLY ANGLER

If you're fly fishing as though you are 'in a contest', and the only objective is to 'catch fish' - you are missing the point .... and that is disappointing

"Fly fishing is for those who hold that the fun in the race of life is in the running, not just the winning, that existence is its own justification, that a day spent in a stream or a pond with a goal in mind is a joy even if the goal is not achieved."

The six species is in fresh water high up in the river system. SM Yellows, Small Mouth Bass (Head of the pools and in the running water) Large mouth Bass (Normally in very slow moving or still water) Carp (everywhere), Blue Gill (everywhere) and Blou Kurper (very dificult to locate, has only taken three of them next to some reeds). The species I still have to take in the system - again high up and not salt water - mullet and moggel. Have only twice nearly hooked a mullet on a small fly and fast retrieve, but only got the chase and not the take. They still haunt me..

Also want to ad a bit of a sad part about the six species list. All of them have been introduced to the system and is actually not suposed to be there. We were sitting on a rock contemplating about life one afternoon and wondered how it would have been fishing this river 200 years or so ago. Then we realised that we would not really have been able to catch a fish...
