    Default Lion Lager

OK chasps I managed to get my grubby little paws on some Lion Lager. Brewed (I assume) under license by the Delta Brewery in Zimugabwe. As I might have stated elsewhere I'm not the biggest fan you'll ever meet of sab products, but even their tasteless offerings would easily surpass this poor excuse at brewing. An incredibly dry finish for a beer, totally opposite to the sweetish finish of the Lion lager of old. Not very bitter, small trace of hops flavour, probably Cascade variety. No nose (yes beer should have a distinct nose, real beer that is) the only thing going for it in fact was the colour. Same dark, rich colour as the old stuff. And disappointingly, it stops there. So a score out of ten: 1 point for the colour and... um.... well JA! It was cold and wet! 1 more point!!! So there you have it, an impressive 2/10!

In conclusion, if you can convince one of your chinas to smuggle you some beer over the border, ask for Bollinger.

PS: I couldn't finish the second bottle so I've put in on ice for Shammers. Sorry mate!!

I worry about you two. Honestly.
I think a micro brewery tour will have to be organised to re-educate your tastebuds!!

Remember they brew it using the water at Oranjemund that originates from further upstream from round the Riet and Vaal rivers where us guys and other squatters wee etc in the water...!

Look, that's just a nasty rumor. It wasn't a calabash, it was a REALLY big quart bottle.
