    Default Angola Yellowfish 25kg?

I've heard a rumour about a group that cought a yellowfish specie in Angola that can reach up to 25kgs. Does anybody have any info on this? Apparantly they were catching bream or something and big fish was taking the bream from the flyline, they changed to conventional tackle and a bream as livebait and caught a "smaller" speciman of under 10kgs that resembles our largemouth yellowfish! Is this just a rumour or can it be true?

    Regards

    Chris

Yellowfish can be found up there (Labeobarbus codringtonii) - Upper Zambezi Yellowfish, but according to Skelton reaches a max length of 39cm and they are similar to the largescale yellows. Distribution region is the Okavango and Zambezi rivers.
Definitely not the one in the picture...

I did a bit of reading last night and it seems the only fish related to the yellow that gets to be that big is the rhinofish in Kenya, they get to 50kg!
The group that caught the fish is currently in Kenya with a billfish tournament, but uppon their return, hopefully I will be able to confirm the rumours. It would be great if it is the kwanza, then you can do a trip there and catch tarpon at the mouth and these huge fish inland from there.

hi guys, this fish was caught by my ichthyology lecturer Olaf Weil on the freshwater reaches of the Kwanza. Him and a few fellow ichthyologists went on a "fishing for science" type expedition to determine what new species might be in the river and this was the result......
