Have sent you a PM
Hi
A mate of mine is looking for a guide to take him out in the WC specifically to target three Cape "yellows". Can anyone recommend a reputable service - i.e. the oke must not fish more than him.

Thanks gents. seems the secret is bigger than the "secret" Vaal venues. I think he will have to throw cash at the problem and go to Bushmanskloof! ;-)
I have done some fishing at Bushmans Kloof with an international film crew.
Truly magnificent venue with awesome accomodation and restaurant.
You will be so pampered, you might not want to go and fish.
I saw the biggest Yellow in the main dam. We were standing on the wall/edge, getting the cameras ready, tackling up and this massive golden/yellow bus, cruised about 15 to 20cm below the surface, slipped by and took something from the surface.
What a nightmare moment. Rods not ready, fumbling to get the line thru the guides etc etc.
The biggest we caught on the trip was a 40cm Clanwilliam.
But plenty of smaller ones where landed.
Small GRHE with brass bead and orange hotspot was the fly of choice. #14.
I also have been there where I did not even see a photo of a fish.

You might not be far off with your secret venues.
The Vaal has 100's of km of river.
The Clanwilliam/ sawfin and witvis occurs only in a couple of mountain tribs.
Which normally involves private land owners, lots of hiking, some luck and good timing.
But in return you get spectacular hiking, awesome scenery, stunning views, crystal clear water, glorious rock formations, wild unspoilt areas and if you are lucky, catching a truly special fish in fish.
