    Default E/Cape smallmouths in December

I'm going to be in the Border area in Dec (prepared to travel a bit if needed) and was wondering what the fishing was like then, where to go, info re tackle and flies etc? Any help would be great.

Best bet would be the Cathcart area. Wriggleswade dam near Stutterheim has yellows and BIG bass.

All those tribs of the Orange have yellows. They tend to migrate upstream in the warmer months, and are easily caught in the Kraai, and many other rivers in the Rhodes and Barkley areas. Your threat at that time of year, is of course the rain, which can bring the water levels up quickly and make fishing difficult. If you can get it when the flows are reasonable, you should get a lot of yellows.

The Kei will probably be too dirty to fish in December. It is best in winter. But the Kei tribs all have yellows and the fish should be up the tribs then. Try the Kubusi or the Kilpplaat.
