My name is Reveck Hariram and I have recently been appointed as the Senior Water Quality Advisor for the Vaal Dam Catchment at Rand Water.
Being a keen fly fisherman as well, I know that we all see or are made aware of activities that impact on the environment. I would like to appeal to all fly fishermen to contact me to report any of these occurrences on the Vaal River so that we may investigate and mitigate these problems and ensure the sustainability of the Vaal River System.

Do you have jurisdiction over fishermen who blatantly flout the 2 sm rule as far as "keep" is concerned ?
If not please pm me the number of someone who does.
20 sm in a net a day is just WRONG.
I was outnumbered, and after the initial "confrantation" decided that cowardice was better than being thrown into the river which was at 500+ cubes.
The perpitrator has been at the same venue 3 weekends in a row.

Response to Herman's Query
As i have explained to Herman, Randwater does not have authority over the fish catches and fishing regulations. Our concerns lie majorly in the water resources management and water quality of the vaal barrage catchment and the Vaal dam catchments.
However i managed to get hold of details of individuals from the Departments of COnservation and Environment who will be able to assist.
