    Thumbs down 2x LM Slaughter

Came across this disturbing post: http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic....840805#p840805
This....(edited name)... dude holding two huge Large Mouth Yellows, slaughtered!
Unfortunately he is within his rights, according to the Gauteng Provincial Government.......if he has a licence?
He obviously doesnt know that they are endangered and niether does the Government.........how sad is this???!!!!

If anyone knows this tool, please inform him of the seriousness of killing Yellows of that size or any yellows fro that matter.

    Cheers

If the fish were killed, he's a knob.

But, other articles and places on the net suggests he does release the fish:

BUT...the date on the above pic, and the one on that link, is the SAME date!!! One when it was caught (early morning), the one above after 10am.
The fish was NOT released, I suspect...even though he CLAIMS so!

More pics, same day...so these fish were either caught and kept in a f*&%^&$ keep-net, and then only released AFTER 10:30am the next day...or, were never actually released...

(All the sites lists the same day, the same fish weight, the same comments. So from 2:52am until after 10am...the same fish in the pics...so, either a keep net, or were never released....)

    Hi Stones,

I think you are wrong wrt their status.LM Yellows's status got changed last year, they're not endangered anymore. Then, I believe that the info on the attachment is wrong too, you are NOT allowed to kill & keep 2 Largemouth, Smallmouth yes but not largies. Hey,I might be wrong about the "keep policy" but it sure ain't nice seeying those dead fish. The fish on the left is most probably a female and I bet if he knew about them taking about 8 years to sexually mature he would've thought twice about keeping her....

Thanks for posting, awareness is key as well as education.

Thanks Guys for the concern. Weather or not the fish were declared endangered, I personally think they are......fore sure!

As for the retainment, the license says any of the yellow family

This is what I am fighting for and will hopefully get some answers at some point.......

    Thanks all for the input.

G I think youre spot on.
AFIK you now SPECIFICALLY need a permit for Large Mouth. And seeing as no govening body exists that issues said permit you technically arent even allowed to catch LM. (I believe there was even a thread about this paradox on FlyTalk a while back) But irrespective even if you are entitled to kill something what the hell does it prove to do so??

You know youre really a dumb f@ck p0es when you kill not one, but two fish with more intrinsic value in a single fin than you have in your entire being.

    What a ****stick.
