Smilin Thru

Hi Guys,

New to the site and to Yellow's. Any comments on Smilin Thru (Just outside of Parys). Been there twice with no luck.

Isn't Smilin Thru also a major baitie venue ?

I remember hearing a baitie ask for directions to Smilin Thru in the fishing shop in Parys while I was picking up a hat for the s/o as she forgot hers on the day.

Hey I was just asking, I can't say I know beyond a doubt that it is a Baitie venue, my information is based on hearsay. Why not go check it out for yourself, who knows, maybe it's a beaut venue ?

I have been there a couple of times and defenitely saw some fish here and there. They have got quite a few very nice spots which is easy to get to.

I just haven't caught anything there yet!

I know this is an old thread but rather than creating a new one with the same title I thought I would resurrect this instead.

Please can anyone who has fished at Smilin Thru provide me with some info as to the best spots, flies, etc. for the venue.

Also, if you have fished there recently let me know how it went.

Ive only fished Smiling Thu once last year when the water was dirty and full of rock snot. There was a pap goeier there but Im sure most of the bait fishing happens in the long pool not in the rapids.

I remember seeing quite a few yellows even though we only caught one (on a small black flash back nymph). There were some great runs and Id go back there for sure. Ive heard its been fishing well this summer too.

There were a rediculous amount of barbel around when i was there! And some carp so big they would make any 'pap goeers' knees tremble
