The scale only went up to 4, but the consensus between Rory and myself was that it was over 5. What a day that was!

To get a relative idea of the BIG Smallmouths that are around - what is your personal best Smallmouth to date.
Any fish weighed with an Xplorer net with integrated scale are automatically disqualified.
Remember this is for smallmouth yellows using traditional flyfishing methods. No Pap Herman! and no Jiggs, Stones! And I will refrain from giving the size of the monster I caught on a Hornbill heart.

My biggest and a friend of mine back in the day... were easily over the 5 mark. You just don't see them anymore! I have the pics but only in a negative. Will have to get those printed sometime.
My biggest is 3.7 kg and I have caught a handful over 3 kg. Kudos to the guys who have caught the 5 kg plus fish. That is a big SM.
The biggest fly caught SM I have come across was this 6 kg'er:
And here's the same guy with a 5.5 kg:

Now thats a fish.I wonder what river that came from.Wont be surprised if its the Wilge river.I have seen similar size fish coming out that river, somewhere near Frankfort i believe. The guy actually looks like the guy that lives near there,Paul Fick or something.
Some seriously large fish there. And nice to see a "true weight"....
Most guys will catch that 5.5kg fish, not weigh it, and assume it's 7kg.
