    Default Sage Click Series reel

I viewed the new "click" series from Sage today.
Could possibly be the prettiest reel I have ever seen. It replaces the 3000 series. Nice large arbour, and light as a feather. Just in time for Christmas.

I saw it at John at Upstream. Retails for just under 3K. Pricey, but still less than the 3000 series. Even at the current exchange rates.

Andre, do you perhaps own one of the 3000 series reels? If you do I would like to hear your expert opinion on why someone would buy that reel given the fact that there are so many better reels on the market at a better prices?

The Abel argument is still understandable for me, but R2 500 for a click and paul brake system is still beyond my logic...

    Kind regards,
    PTN

Geeeesh...For just under R3k you could get a Shilton though, with a much better drag system. Why would you go for the Sage still? I thought they would be better priced.
    No thanks!

    Yes, Andre
Very pretty indeed! I was drooling over Ed's reel when we fished the Holsloot together a few weeks ago. This reel is feather light and matches his triple perfectly. I thought my triple was as light as they come, but at one stage while bundu-bashing I held both triples (mine with Sage 3100 and his with Sage Click I), his set up felt as if it was an ounce lighter than mine. At that moment I wish could get one for my 000wt it just too damn pricey at R3200.00

On light line rods you don't need a drag system. Simplicity, that's the beatuty of it all!

That Sage is a ridiculous price. If it didn't have the name Sage on it it wouldn't sell.

It beats me why so many people are besotted by the name "Sage".
If I were you I would support your local industry and buy a Shilton.

PTN is right though...a click and pawl reel for over R3,100.00 is just crazy. What are you paying for then? Just the name? What does it REALLY benefit you on the Cape small streams? You could buy a R300.00 composite plastic click and pawl reel that will be just a light (if not lighter) and will do the same job!
